Search Engine Optimisation
As internet marketing specialists, we at UKIM know all of the marketing buzzwords and phrases around..Mention adwords, ppc, roi or organic listings and we know exactly what is meant. It's our language, we speak it, understand it and, quite frankly, we love it. However when we meet a client for the first time, we endeavour not to try to dazzle them with as many buzzwords as we can throw out. It may sound impressive to quote 'By incorporating SEO into the development and design of your website we will maximise conversion rates, by increasing inbound links with organic listings, thus signifying a substantial ROI' Er, ok thanks very much. Leaving our clients wondering exactly where on earth they can lay their hands on the phrase book.
What is SEO?
SEO or search engine optimisation is a website promotional tool and can be offered as a standalone service or can form part of a wider online marketing campaign. Still not sure?
UKIM use SEO to make it easier for search engines to find your website. If the search engines don't know your site is there, then there won't be any visitors. No visitors, no sales... We have to make your website search-friendly.
How?
Search engines are constantly collecting data on website content in order to improve search speed and relevancy. The search engine looks for fresh, updated content with relevant keywords or key-phrases and easy access to all your pages. In order to be presented higher on a search result page (be higher 'ranked') UKIM makes sure that your website contains relevant content.
For Example
Your company sells wooden products. You webpage is crammed with the words wooden product ,say, 50 times in one article (this is known as keyword stuffing and is very boring to read and may lead to your site being banned from search engines), users come along and enters wooden products into a search engine. Hey presto, your website appears as result 595 on page 3. Who will ever find you? UKIM will ask what products you sell (they are handcrafted wooden bowls) and by writing articles relating to your product and using relevant keywords and key-phrases, increase your page ranking. Using phrases such as wooden bowl, handcrafted wooden bowls, crafted bowls or even yew handcrafted bowls, search engines will find it much easier to present your website to users who are specifically looking for your products.
Is that it then?
A search engine optimisation strategy on your website has not only to be search-friendly but also has to be user friendly. There is no point in going all out to become search-friendly, attracting your target audience to your site only for them to leave because your website lacks quality. In order to provide the qualities needed to convert visitors into customers, UKIM must make your website attractive, loads quickly, that all pages are accessible (easily accessible too), is persuasive and that it contains relevant content.
UKIM would like to think that , with our clients, we can discuss search engine optimisation and online marketing strategies in a straight-forward understandable way but if we stray into marketing-speak, please feel free to quote * 'konnten Sie sagen bitte das wieder langsam auf Englisch? Danke' and we will know exactly what you mean.
* Could you, please, say that again slowly in English? Thank you.
